The timeless charm of pin-ups returns

The timeless charm of pin-ups returns

Despite the passing years, the charm of pin-ups never goes out of fashion, on the contrary ...

Who I am?

Winking and smiling girls, often photographed in swimsuits or sensual dresses, who see their diffusion during the Second World War.

Painted on the fuselages of airplanes or sewn on the jackets of aviators, the pin-ups gave the pilots a surplus of courage in the heart of the battle, real glamorous icons inextricably linked to the history of aviation.

History

In 1941 the role of pin-ups is to support the soldiers, as for example the actress Marlene Dietrich, who encourages them to join and raise funds.

It is the Hollywood Canteen that brings actresses to the front to raise the spirits of young people at war, with dances, food and shows.

Even the press deals with the mood of the soldiers: the military magazine Yank, proposes a column, in which it was possible to find the most admired women in Hollywood, who in this period crowd the magazines; among these the actress Rita Hayworth, who frequently appears in all the newspapers.

Betty Grable becomes the official pin-up of the army, despite not respecting the canons of femininity of American time, it is the most desired by men.

To help the troops, the designer Vargas paints his "sexy girls" for free in the military bases and his posters are hung from the aviators inside their flying fortresses.

The pin-ups are also painted on the aircraft cockpit and the "Nose Art" becomes the lucky charm of the USA.

Today

Their captivating beauty returns winking in a glamorous and unforgettable collection signed by Graham. The eclectic watch brand brings the aviation inspired icon to another level, paying homage to the American military era of World War II and pin-ups. The Chronofighter Vintage Nose Art collection is a series of four limited edition models, each of which presents a splendid hand-painted beauty.
